Tanzania is a country located in East Africa. It is bordered by Uganda to the north, Kenya to the northeast, the Indian Ocean to the east, Mozambique to the southeast, Malawi to the south, Zambia to the southwest, Rwanda to the west, and Burundi to the northwest. The country's name comes from the two states that merged to form the country: Tanganyika and Zanzibar. The capital city is Dodoma, although the largest city is Dar es Salaam. Tanzania is home to many different animals, including lions, elephants, and gorillas. The country is also famous for Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Tanzania has a population of over 55 million people. The official languages of the country are Swahili and English.
