Marie Curie explained to kids
Marie Curie was a famous scientist who did a lot of work on radioactivity. She was born in Poland in 1867, and her real name was Maria Sklodowska. When she was 24, she went to study in Paris, France. There she met Pierre Curie, who was also a scientist. They got married and had two daughters.
Marie and Pierre Curie did a lot of work together on radioactivity. They also discovered two new elements, which they named radium and polonium. Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. She won it in 1903, and she won it again in 1911.
Sadly, Marie Curie died in 1934 from a disease that she got from working with radioactivity. Her daughter, Irene, also won a Nobel Prize.
