The word circus comes from the Latin word for "circle" or "ring". The first circus in England was called The Royal Circus and it was opened in 1768. The most famous circus in the world is the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which was founded in the United States in the 19th century.
Today, there are many different types of circuses. Some circuses focus on acrobatic feats, while others feature clowns and comedy acts. Some circuses even tour with live bands and performers.
