John Bardeen was an American physicist and electrical engineer. He was the only person to have won two Nobel Prizes in Physics, and he is also one of the few people to have won a Nobel Prize in more than one field. Bardeen was born in Wisconsin in 1908. He studied engineering at the University of Wisconsin, and he later went on to study physics at Princeton University. Bardeen worked on the development of transistors and integrated circuits. He also worked on the theory of superconductivity. Bardeen died in 1991.
