The first pharmacies were in ancient Greece. The first pharmacist was a man named Theophrastus. He was a student of Aristotle. Pharmacists make sure that medicines are safe. They also make sure that medicines are the right strength. They test medicines to make sure they work. Pharmacists also give advice to patients. They tell patients how to take their medicine. They also tell patients what to do if they have a problem with their medicine. Some pharmacists work in research. They work with doctors to find new medicines.
