Nicaragua became an independent country in 1838. The economy of Nicaragua is based on agriculture, fishing, forestry, mining, and manufacturing. The main crops are coffee, bananas, sugarcane, cotton, corn, and rice. Nicaragua also produces beef, pork, chicken, and eggs. Nicaragua is a beautiful country with many volcanoes, lakes, and rivers. The climate is tropical, with hot, humid weather. There are many interesting places to visit in Nicaragua, including the ruins of the ancient city of Leon, the colonial city of Granada, and the stunning beaches of the Pacific coast.
