Hungary was inhabited by Celts, Romans, and Huns before the Magyars (Hungarian people) arrived in the 9th century. The Kingdom of Hungary was established in 1000. The country was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire from 1867 to 1918. After World War I, Hungary was a republic from 1919 to 1946. From 1946 to 1989, Hungary was a communist state. After the fall of communism in 1989, Hungary became a democracy. Hungary is a beautiful country with many interesting places to visit.
