Subjunctive possibility explained to kids

The subjunctive mood is used to express possibilities, wishes, doubts, or recommendations. For example, "I doubt she will come." In this sentence, the speaker is doubting that the other person will come, so we use the subjunctive mood. Other examples of the subjunctive mood include: "I recommend that he leave." "I wish it would rain." The subjunctive mood is not used as often as the other moods, but it is still important to know how to use it.
