Great Pyramid of Giza explained to kids

The Great Pyramid of Giza is a large ancient Egyptian pyramid that was built about 4,500 years ago. It's one of the most famous landmarks in the world and is also one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Great Pyramid is the tallest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex. It's also the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Great Pyramid was built as a tomb for the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu. It's believed that it took about 20 years to build and was completed around 2560 BC. The Great Pyramid is made of limestone and granite and is about 481 feet tall. That's about the same height as a modern 40-story skyscraper! The Great Pyramid is the most accurately aligned structure in existence and faces true north with an error of only 3/60th of a degree. The four sides of the pyramid are slightly curved and meet at an apex, or point. The base of the pyramid is square and each side is about 755 feet long. That's about the length of two football fields! There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest chamber is called the subterranean chamber and is cut into the bedrock. The second chamber is called the Queen's Chamber and is located about halfway up the pyramid. The third and final chamber is called the King's Chamber and is located at the very top of the pyramid. The Great Pyramid is surrounded by a complex of smaller pyramids, temples, and tomb
