Postgraduate education explained to kids

There are many different types of postgraduate education, which may be broadly divided into two categories: academic and professional. Academic postgraduate education leads to a doctoral degree or a master's degree. These programs usually take two to four years to complete and require the completion of a thesis or dissertation. Professional postgraduate education leads to a professional degree, such as a Juris Doctor (JD) or a Master of Business Administration (MBA). These programs usually take one to two years to complete and do not require a thesis or dissertation. There are also a number of postgraduate certificates and diplomas, which usually take one year or less to complete. These programs may or may not require a thesis or dissertation. In general, postgraduate education is more specialized and focused than undergraduate education, and it is often pursued by students who have already earned a bachelor's degree.
