Abraham explained to kids

Abraham was a Hebrew prophet who is considered the father of the Jewish people. He is also recognized as a patriarch of the three Abrahamic religions: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Abraham was born in the city of Ur in Mesopotamia, which is now modern-day Iraq, and lived in the land of Canaan, which is now modern-day Israel. Abraham is best known for his role in the biblical story of the binding of Isaac. In this story, Abraham is commanded by God to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, on a mountain in the land of Moriah. Abraham obediently prepares to kill Isaac, but at the last moment is stopped by an angel of God and instead offered a ram to sacrifice in Isaac's place. The binding of Isaac is seen as a test of Abraham's faith, and he is therefore seen as a model of faith for both Jews and Christians. Abraham is also important to Muslims, as he is considered to be the first monotheistic prophet. Abraham's story is told in the Hebrew Bible, the Christian Bible, and the Quran. He is a central figure in all three religions, and his story is an important part of each religion's sacred texts.
