Late Middle Ages explained to kids

The Late Middle Ages was a time period from around the 13th century to the end of the 15th century. It followed the High Middle Ages and preceded the Early Modern period. During the Late Middle Ages, there were many changes in European society. The population of Europe increased, and cities grew larger. There was a rise in the number of universities and a growth in trade and commerce. There was also a decline in the power of the Church and an increase in the power of monarchs. Many of the changes in society during the Late Middle Ages were a result of the Black Death, a disease that killed millions of people in Europe. The Black Death had a profound impact on the economy, social structure, and demography of Europe. It caused a decline in the population, which resulted in a shortage of workers and an increase in wages. It also caused a decrease in demand for goods, which led to a decline in production. The Late Middle Ages was a time of great upheaval and change. However, it was also a time of great achievement. During this period, the Renaissance began, and artists, writers, and thinkers produced some of the most important works in Western history.
