Big Bang explained to kids

The Big Bang is the name given to the moment when the universe began. It's thought to have happened around 13.8 billion years ago. Before the Big Bang, the universe was incredibly small. In fact, it was so small that it was just a single point with no dimensions. Then, in a single moment, it expanded. This expansion continues today and is why the universe is so big. The Big Bang was an incredibly powerful event. In fact, it was so powerful that it created all the matter and energy in the universe. It also created space and time. Before the Big Bang, there was no space or time. So, the Big Bang wasn't just an event in space, it was an event in time, too. Scientists aren't sure what caused the Big Bang. It's possible that it was just a random event. Or, it could be that the universe is part of a larger cycle of expansion and contraction. We may never know for sure. What we do know is that the Big Bang was an incredibly important event. It's the event that created everything we see today.
