J. M. W. Turner explained to kids

J.M.W. Turner was an English painter who is known for his landscape paintings. He was born in 1775 and died in 1851. Turner was a very talented artist and started painting when he was just a little boy. He exhibited his first painting when he was only 15 years old! Turner was particularly known for his paintings of ships and the sea. He often visited the coast of England and Scotland to paint the cliffs, the waves, and the boats. He also travelled to other countries, such as Italy and France, to paint their landscapes too. Turner was a very successful artist and was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts in 1799, when he was only 24 years old. He became a professor at the Royal Academy in 1807. Turner's paintings are often very bright and full of light. He was one of the first artists to use a technique called 'painting with light', where he would paint with very light colours to make the painting look like it was glowing. Turner's paintings are still admired today and are worth a lot of money. In 2019, one of his paintings sold for over £30 million!
