Spinosaurus explained to kids

Spinosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the Cretaceous period. It was the largest of all known land carnivores, reaching up to 18 meters (59 feet) in length and weighing up to 23 metric tons (25 short tons). Spinosaurus is known to have lived in what is now North Africa and possibly parts of South America. The first Spinosaurus fossils were discovered in Egypt in 1912, but they were destroyed in World War II. The first complete skeleton was not discovered until 2014, in Morocco. Spinosaurus was a bipedal dinosaur with a long tail and a large sail on its back. The sail was made up of long spines sticking up from the animal's back. It is thought that the sail was used for display or to help regulate the animal's body temperature. Spinosaurus was a carnivore and probably fed on fish, reptiles, and other dinosaurs. It is thought to have had a bite force of up to 3,000 pounds per square inch, making it one of the strongest bites of any known animal. Spinosaurus is one of the most famous dinosaurs, due to its size and the unusual sail on its back.
