Atheism explained to kids

Atheism is the belief that there is no God. Atheists may also believe that there is no afterlife, or that there is no soul. Atheism is not a religion, but some atheists may be part of a religion that does not believe in God, such as Buddhism. Atheists may think that religion is a waste of time, or that it is harmful to society. Some atheists also believe that religion is a cause of war and violence. There are many famous atheists, such as the scientists Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein. The writer Mark Twain was also an atheist. Atheism is on the rise in many countries, especially in Europe. In the United States, about 3% of people are atheists.
