Oceania explained to kids
Oceania is a continent located in the eastern and southern hemispheres. It includes the countries of Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea, as well as many other smaller island nations. The continent has a total land area of 8,525,989 square kilometers, making it the smallest of the seven continents.
Oceania is home to a diverse range of cultures, languages, and religions. The continent is also home to some of the world's most iconic animals, such as kangaroos, koalas, and penguins.
The first people to settle in Oceania are thought to have arrived from Southeast Asia around 40,000 years ago. These early settlers are believed to have arrived in Australia by boat. Over the millennia, the settlers spread to the other islands of Oceania.
Today, the continent of Oceania is home to a population of over 41 million people. The majority of people in Oceania live in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Other countries with large populations include New Zealand, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands.
