Time explained to kids
Time is a measurement of how long something takes to happen. It is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, and centuries.
There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, 4 weeks in a month, 12 months in a year, and 100 years in a century.
A day is the time it takes for the Earth to go around the Sun once. A year is the time it takes for the Earth to go around the Sun once.
The Earth goes around the Sun once every 365.24 days. This is called a year.
A leap year is when the Earth goes around the Sun an extra time in one year. This happens every 4 years.
There are many different ways to measure time. Some of these are:
